Facebook & GIF Fest set out to rewrite what a story can be.
In today’s world, a story can be told in a 10-second movie, a boomerang or even a GIF.
Storytelling is changing, and the next wave of storytellers aren’t behind fancy cameras or heavy typewriters. They’re on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, creating new ways to tell stories for today’s mediums.
To inspire creative agencies with the potential of its increasingly popular feature, Stories, Facebook partnered with Noise GIF Fest and 4 unique Instagram creators to tell The Next Story.
The Next Story: Activation at GIF Fest

We worked with US-based animator Marty Cooper (@hombremcsteez), known for “aug-dementing reality”, to create The Next Everyday Story–custom sticker projections that interacted with the event environment.

Filmmaker, Martin Hong (@choann_studio), and French design collective, Parallel Studio (@parallel_studio_), showcased their “tall-shorts” in a theatre custom built for The Next Film Story.

Local artist duo, Kapilan Naidu (@kapilan.naidu) and Darryl Lim (darryl.in.distress), told The Next OMG Story with a Magic Mirror designed to inspire people with the possibilities of AR.

We also built an AR wall that showcased the best of the AR Creator Community and allowed people to try the effects on the spot.

Each of the content videos was cut down into short ads, which ran on Facebook and Instagram. Swiping up on any of the ads took the viewer to an Instant Experience where they could watch the full video and learn more about the artist’s work.
